Who We Are
At Kittens’ Mittens Child Care, we strongly believe that every child is unique with its own social, emotional, intellectual, and physical qualities that must be understood and respected by educators. Our educators’ goal is to get to know and understand all of the children and prepare educational activities that will respond to and reflect their individual preferences and needs.
Our approach is focused to a child’s individual growth and development stage, an environment that allows freedom of choice and child's positive experiences through play, exploring and experimenting.
Following this approach, we developed curriculum also including foundations and inspirations from Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, as well as Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio theories.
Our main principals:
- Child as a Focus
Child’s interests and needs are the main focus in selecting activities that will engage and support development. - Holistic Learning
Our goal is to educate the whole child, with having on mind importance of the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of children. - Partnership with Parents and Community
In order to build a curriculum and care that every child deserves, Kittens’ Mittens Child Care involves parents and community as equal partners in the process. - Natural, Hands-on Materials
We mainly established our facility using natural and hands-on materials that give opportunity to children to use their senses while learning. - Love for Learning
Children are born with a natural curiosity and love for learning, it is crucial to nurture this love in the early years by providing opportunity to all children to choose, play, do, discover, experiment and achieve.
